EDITORIAL
When we
first started i2P e-magazine, it was a quantum shift for us in our development.
New technologies were required, and to achieve this, we had to go to
an Internet Service provider that had a suitable equipment to accommodate
us.
We
thought we would develop the concept in easy stages, so we simply created
a new site solely for the e-magazine.
The old Computachem site containing the original e-newsletters was left
on its original site until all "bugs" were ironed out in i2P.
This month
we decided to amalgamate the old site with the new so that we only had
one major site to maintain.
That's when our problems began.
The older site did not seem to like its new location and many links
dropped out.
Many of the new tools we had perfected for i2P now seemed not to work
properly.
We have had to temporarily disconnect some of them.
Such are
the difficulties of maintaining a website.
At the
time of publication we were still racing the clock to ensure everything
worked.
Mostly, we have succeeded, but if you experience any difficulties, please
notify us so that we can rectify any problems.
Despite all these time-consuming difficulties, we believe we have presented
another interesting edition, with, we hope, a range of ideas that you
may be able to incorporate in your own practice whether it be community
based or hospital based. There is a bewildering range of activities
occurring within pharmacy and i2P E-Magazine is right in the middle,
endeavouring to keep you informed of important developments and events.
Someone once said that "In the midst of change, everything remains
the same", and the same can be said of contemporary pharmacy. While
we are undergoing major changes, we are still basically the same profession,
seeking to emphasise and deliver the right range of skills to match
the expectation of society.
We still do the same things, but we do them differently, and one hopes,
more efficiently.
Just with a different "mix and balance".
With change comes uncertaintly and periods of "overload",
and many can identify with these feelings.
However, I believe that we are entering a phase that will begin to build
back job satisfaction and the creation of interesting and new work.
We just need to see that in the midst of change there is always opportunity,
and we should reach out and grab it in whatever form it takes.
And talking
about opportunity, readers are again reminded about the E-Pharma Conference
to be held at the Hilton Hotel from the 29th May to 31st May 2002. This
is your opportunity to learn about the latest developments in e-health
and network with many industry decision-makers.
The future has arrived, so don't get left behind in the rush.
