Push for pharmacy
Sunday Territorian, Edition 1 -SUN 17 JUN 2001, Page 004
The
Tiwi Health Board will lobby the Federal Government for a community-owned
pharmacy on Bathurst Island.
The board said it believed the Health Insurance Commission had delayed
its decision to approve the pharmacy because of "undue influence''
from a lobby group.
Board chief executive Bill Barclay announced today the Board would call
for Health Minister Dr Michael Wooldridge to instruct the commission
to approve the pharmacy.
Mr Barclay said: "The pharmacy on Bathurst Island will be the first
in Australia to be owned by a community-controlled Aboriginal health
organisation.''
