A Footnote to the Holidays Welcome
back from holidays. You are tanned from the tropical sun and enthusiasm
boiling over for the year ahead. The
marketing departments don't take holidays and 60% of the mail can
immediately be binned.
Then there are the Bank statements and huge printouts from the Health Insurance Commission(HIC) of dud Medicare details. That just leaves you to concentrate on the 10% that need actioning. Like this one. Sent
from a Nursing Home, an extract from "Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme Safety Net arrangements Family Eligibility for Couples Separated by Illness and Injury". It
goes on, and I have condensed :
Where
a couple is separated by illness or injury they will be considered
a family for elligibility for safety net.
Hell, when was the HIC going to tell us? We all know a couple cannot combine for Safety Net if not living under same roof, and now who makes that call? The family? Good one, another complexity and cause for conflict. Pretty much doesn't everyone entering a Nursing Home, enter as a result of illness or debility neccessitating leaving home? This
new arrangement is compassionate but so short on commonsense that
I am speechless...again!
