A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
Welcome
to Edition #27.
In this edition, Rollo Manning becomes very graphic in his continuing
series on reviewing the job of a pharmacist.
Why not participate and give your comments on the same theme?
Brett Clark is busy writing a paper for the E-Pharma Conference, which
is set to be the major event of the year.
It is to be held in Sydney at the Le Meridien Hotel over June 27-29
inclusive.
To help Brett out we have recruited James Ellerson to write an article
on the conference so that Brett can get on with the job.
Because of the immense scope of this conference, it is our recommendation
that every pharmacist who is able, should attend.
We have a continuing article on consultant pharmacy and the development
of a private practice. In this edition we look at "The Essence of a
Consultant" and we hope that the information conveyed will help you
to expand your horizons for this new component of pharmacy health service.
"Are You E-Ready" is the title of an e-commerce article built around
developments occurring in Australia now, and how pharmacy seems to be
lagging behind.
Read this in conjunction with the E-Pharma program and it may provide
the necessary stimulus for you to make the effort to attend.
Jon Aldous is back to give you his insights into pre-registration training.
Leigh Kibby has had an influx of clients and his wife has decided to
have a baby. Congratulations Leigh!
Leigh's regular management article has been temporarily taken up by
Peter Sayers who writes about "Improving Team Performances".
All the management articles to date have been written so that the "soft
skills" required to manage larger entities, and groups of people in
a corporate setting, are reported on. This is in preparation for eventual
corporate pharmacy, and the acceleration of massive changes within pharmacy
that are occurring, due to competition policy and the pressures of globalisation.
Roy Stevenson takes us on another tour on the joys of being a locum,
and how embarrassing some situations can become.
Laugh along with him as he tells us about "Stuff Happens…It Really Does!"
Our guest columnist "Roundup" is back again and talks about western
intrusion on an old culture. This segment is always interesting; because
it gives an insight into rural/remote pharmacy problems that few of
us ever get to hear about.
